According to today’s post from Exposing Britain First there’s a chance that Jayda Fransen, deputy leader of Britain First will go to prison for ‘religiously motivated harrassment’. We don’t know how likely this is because unlike EBF we don’t really focus too much on individual groups. They do seem to have some interesting insider information though.
We can see why Miss Fransen might deserve imprisonment, of course. But we can’t help thinking that if she does go to jail it’ll be a shame. Yes, she deserves it just as anyone who incites division and preaches hate does. But it’ll be a personal tragedy for a young woman whose life really didn’t have to be this way.
That’s why we at #LeaveTheDark would prefer to engage with people to prevent their radicalisation than see them punished later. Prevention has to be better than cure.
Please join us and help prevent others from falling into ideological radicalisation and hate crime. Let’s show our society a better way!
